پخش فایلهای صوتی و تصویری یکی از وظایف مهم یک سیستم کامپیوتری به حساب می آید. از این رو پلیرهای مختلفی پا به عرصه گذاشته اند. اما چند سالی است راه حل جدیدی ارائه شده است و آن ارائه پلاگینهای صوتی و تصویری در قالب یک پکیج می باشد تا با اضافه کردن آنها به ویندزو هر پلیری قابلیت پخش انواع فرمتها را داشته باشد.
البته پلیرها همه خود را با این سیستم هماهنگ نکرده اند. بهترین مجموعه لاگین یا در واقع کدک را به K-Lite Mega Codec Pack است.

MPEG-2 (Cyberlink) 8.4.0.1014
MPEG-2 (Gabest) 1.0.0.4 - For decoding MPEG-2 video. The Cyberlink filter also support playback of DVD video in Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center.
