نخستین اتومبیل با نیروی محرکه فشار هوا

اولین اتومبیل تجاری که با نیروی محرکه فشار هوا کار میکند در هند آماده تولید انبوه شده است. شرکت هندی Tata Motors موتور این خودرو را ساخته است . این خودرو که City Cat لقب گرفته است بدون بنزین یا هرگونه ماده سوختی دیگر حرکت میکند. فقط هوای فشرده. مخزن هوای این خودرو میتواند در ایستگاه های پمپاژ هوا پر شود یا در منزل با یک کمپرسور معمولی که به آن متصل میکنید. سرعت City Cat حداکثر به 68 مایل در ساعت معادل 110 کیلومتر بر ساعت میرسد و با یک بار پر کردن محفظه هوا 125 مایل یعنی 200 کیلومتر را طی میکند. به این ترتیب استفاده از این خودرو کاملا مقرون به صرفه است ضمن اینکه به کاهش آلودگی نیز کمک شایانی میکند. طراحان این خودرو مشغول اضافه کردن این قابلیت هستند که خودرو دوگانه سوز شود و بتواند در حین حرکت با یک سوخت دیگر مخزن هوای خود را پر کند. هزینه هر بار پر کردن مخزن هوای این اتومبیل تنها 2 دلار است و کمپرسور این خودرو در تمام ایستگاه های فروشنده های گاز برای خودرو ها وجود دارد. و خودرو در چند دقیقه آماده حرکت است. در صورتی که به این ایستگاه ها دسترسی نداشته باشید میتوانید دوشاخه خودرو را به برق بزنید و ماشین با کمپرسور داخلی خود مخزن را طی 4 ساعت پر میکند.
